Music is processed in a different part of the
brain, and is retained longer. For example,
do you know when Columbus sailed the
ocean blue? Right, 1492. You remember it
because of the song. How about when the
Magna Carta was signed?  Probably not...no
song...no musical message.

Most of us can sing the lyrics to "Gilligan's
Island" but few of us can recite the
"Gettysburg Address."

There is a reason we use music to teach
ABC's to our children.  Messages carried by
familiar melodies tend to stick and stay.
